Dear Sir/Madam,

I am writing to you in protest of the mass slaughtering of pigs in Egypt. Images seen in the media, made by the Egyptian newspaper Almasry Alyoum, show the cruel and barbaric fashion in which the pigs are culled: hundreds of live pigs dumped on top of each other into trucks and being beaten to death with iron sticks. This practice is unimaginably cruel and simply unacceptable.

Egypt is the only country in the world to enforce the culling of pigs, in an attempt to keep the influenza A virus at bay, even though experts agree that the virus is transferred only through human contact. The preventive slaughter of these animals is both horrid and useless.

I hereby urge the Egyptian government to stop this brutal slaughter. I am sure thousands of people share my viewpoint and have no intentions of visiting or supporting Egypt in any way as long as the brutal massacre of pigs continues.
